As our collective health, the global economy and the travel industry were suffering the effects of the coronavirus, the livelihoods of freelancers and the self-employed were disproportionately at risk. I devised a content strategy for Teletext Holidays that allowed them to ensure an ongoing stream of blog content and backlinks - two of the main pillars of their successful SEO strategy - while continuing to support self-employed travel bloggers through these challenging times.
Using empathic outreach emails, I reached out to a host of different bloggers and commissioned them to write uplifting content for the Teletext Holidays blog throughout these difficult times of travel bans and quarantines. The guest bloggers - who we called ‘Teletextperts’ - contributed blog posts about a stay-at-home-related topic, spicing it up with homemade photo and video content. We paid them a fair price for their contributions, created individual author pages and awarded them with an elegant ‘Teletextpert’ badge to embed on their website. The badge featured a link back to their author page on Teletext Holidays’ website, ensuring additional SEO benefit for the struggling travel brand.
Thanks to this creative content strategy for Teletext Holidays, we managed to secure 32 backlinks from bloggers with an average Domain Authority of 43. The ‘Teletextpert’ badges were associated with 88.6K estimated views.*
