In 2019 and 2020, Teletext Holidays was the proud sponsor of the Best Travel Blogger Award at the prestigious British Travel Awards. To maximise their return on investment, I designed an SEO content campaign around this sponsorship with the aim of generating coverage and backlinks from as many UK travel blogs as possible.
To start with, I created an extensive outreach list of different types of UK-based travel blogs with good SEO credentials. I wrote custom outreach emails to invite over 150 bloggers to enter the competition by sending in their pitches for a relevant category, like ‘Best Family Travel Blog’ or ‘Best Solo Travel Blog’. This way, I collected close to 100 pitches across 10 different categories and published them on the Teletext Holidays blog. As a next step, I sent the competing bloggers a nomination badge to embed on their website, including a link to the category they were competing in.
Over the course of Teletext Holidays’ sponsorship of the Best Travel Blogger Award at the British Travel Awards, our outreach efforts managed to generate 80 free, organic backlinks from travel bloggers with an average Domain Authority of 34. Our nomination badges were associated with 164K estimated views.* The boost in high-quality backlinks led to Teletext Holidays’ Domain Authority jumping from 59 to 61 between April and September 2019.**
